Christian Filion is the latest addition to the Lavergne team, joining as Quality System and Continuous Improvement Manager. Christian is responsible for Lavergne’s Montreal laboratory and all aspects of quality control, including overseeing our compliance with standards such as IATF 16949, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

While Christian may seem like the new face on our team, his recent appointment is, in many ways, a homecoming. Christian’s new job brings him back to the plastics industry, back to Montreal, back to Canada, even back to Lavergne — he was our Quality Manager from 2006 to 2011. Many of our current employees were initially trained by Christian!

Christian has a long career in quality control for materials and recycling, including projects on stainless steel, plastics and aerospace materials.

Bringing Christian onboard marks the next phase in Lavergne’s trajectory. Christian will supervise the laboratory, ensuring quality control process are used throughout Lavergne’s plant. With this move, Qingkai Meng, Lavergne’s Director of Research & Development, will focus more on our ongoing research projects.

“We’re leading our industry, not just on creating recycled plastics resins, but also in groundbreaking research,” explained founder Jean-Luc Lavergne. “We expect both our production and research sides to make significant contributions over the next few years, so it makes sense to place an experienced leader at the helm of each project.”

Before rejoining Lavergne earlier this summer, Christian held a lead quality control specialist position in the aerospace industry in Savannah, Georgia. “Working in the US was a great step in my career,” Christian said. “I learned a lot about business success — the entrepreneurial spirit for embracing opportunities, setting goals and staying focused.”

Christian hopes to bring those lessons learned to his assignment at Lavergne. “Here in Canada, our leading companies are a step ahead on the way we develop people. I’m hoping at Lavergne we can achieve excellence on all sides — the business, the people and the technology.”

Christian also recognizes the groundbreaking work Lavergne is doing with recycled plastics. “Lavergne’s mission of making plastic circular is the next step in the plastics industry. From the global perspective — the business, social and environmental impact — this must get done. At Lavergne, we’re actually doing it.”

Quality is at the heart of everything we do. Our people make it happen.
